How to Know if a Dryer Heating Element is Bad

If your dryer is no longer heating, you may have a bad element. To test your dryers heating element, start by unplugging the dryer from the wall. Turn the dryer upside down. The front should be facing the floor. Using a screwdriver, remove the metal sheeting on the back of the dryer. Next, find the canister that holds the heating element. The canister will have several wires attached to it. Remove the canister from the heating element. Check the wires for any breaks or damages. If no damage is noted, the heating element is working.
